Stuff JournalI'm
finally done with my first semester in college. What a relief! The last month has been stressful, what with end of the semester projects and tests... But I survived! Actually, finals week wasn't so bad - except for my flute jury and piano exam. The written exams I felt completely fine over, but my instrumental finals scared me. It was my first jury EVER and we had woodwinds perform in the recital hall, under lights. It was a bit scary and I didn't know what to expect for juries, but now that I have one under my belt, I think I'll be fine for next semester's jury. And my piano exam went...well... OK. Half the freshman music majors passed part A of the proficiency exam that day - I didn't. I still have 'til the end of the spring semester to pass it, and it's not a big deal; most of us never played piano before, so we weren't ready this semester. Including myself, but I'm not worried. I think I'll be fine when the time comes next semester.
In other words, we made to the D3 championship game in football! Unfortunately a big blizzard kept the band and a lot of fans from making the 6.5 hour trip to VA, but we all watched it on ESPN last night (from our own homes, of course). Sadly, we lost by 10 points - a touchdown and a field goal from our opponents. Kinda depressing that we couldn't defend our title (we're 10 time champs, and we were going for our 11th). Most likely we'll go back next year, facing the same team.
Now I'm on my 3 week break. I don't have any academics to study or look at except for band. Upon the week we return, we have Wind Ensemble auditions and all instrumental music majors HAVE to audition. We won't all be selected to be in WE, but we'll get seating preference in Concert Band. I also have Flute Choir music to prepare for our first rehearsal of the 2010 spring semester. Oh, joyful.
And Christmas is 5 days away. Yay!!!
